Paul De Bra , David Smits, Kees van der Sluijs, Alexandra Cristea and Maurice Hendrix wrote a paper called "GRAPPLE: Personalization and Adaptation in Learning Management Systems" and sent it to the ED-MEDIA conference. The paper got accepted.

The paper will be presented at the 22nd World Conference on Educational Multimedia, Hypermedia & Telecommunications, the full name of ED-MEDIA 2010. Paul De Bra will present this paper during the conference which will be held in Toronto, Canada from June 29 to July 2.

The paper presents the results from the GRAPPLE project regarding to the GALE adaptive engine in combination with the GAT authoring tools. It describes how this framework can be used by authors to step by step define adaptive applications. In the GRAPPLE project we specifically looked at how adaptive applications can be used in a learning environment (e.g. existing LMSs) to improve learning efficiency for students.

Currently the implementation of the GRAPPLE framework is ready. The next step is to doing evaluations with learners and authors and see how useful these techniques are for them. The first evaluations test show very promising results.
